Operation DELTA SANITY: Nigerian Navy intercepts wooden boat loading crude oil in Rivers, deactivates illegal refining site in Delta

In a significant stride against illicit oil activities, Forward Operating Base BONNY intercepted a large wooden boat engaged in loading crude oil from an abandoned well head near The Yellow Island general area, Rivers State, on Sunday, March 24, 2024. The operation, a part of the ongoing Operation DELTA SANITY, marks a crucial victory in combating illegal oil bunkering in the region.

Further bolstering the operation’s success, Forward Operating Base ESCRAVOS uncovered and successfully deactivated an illegal refining site during a separate operation on Tuesday, March 26, 2024. Located in the Agogboro Community of Warri South West, Delta State, the site was found laden with approximately 8,000 litres of illegally refined Automotive Gas Oil (AGO).

These operations underline the continued commitment of security forces to curbing illegal oil-related activities in the Niger Delta region.
