Police officer in viral extortion video demoted

The Imo State Police Command has responded to a viral video showing a police officer extorting money from motorists along the Owerri-Onitsha expressway. Inspector Isong Osudueh, from the Counter Terrorism Unit (CTU) in Owerri, has been demoted following orderly room proceedings.

In a statement Police Public Relations Officer ASP Okoye Henry said his supervisory officer has received an official query for inadequate supervision.

These disciplinary measures highlight the Command’s commitment to professionalism, transparency, and integrity. Commissioner of Police Aboki Danjuma condemned the incident, reaffirming that extortion and misconduct will not be tolerated. He also warned that supervisory officers neglecting their duties will face severe penalties.

CP Danjuma called on the public to continue supporting the police and security agencies with timely information to enhance public safety.
