Senator Barau distributes 37,880 bags of fertiliser to Kano farmers

To boost agricultural productivity and support food security efforts, the Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Barau I. Jibrin, has commenced the distribution of 37,880 bags of fertiliser to farmers across Kano State.

According to a statement by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Alhaji Ismail Mudashir, the distribution exercise was officially flagged off on Sunday in the Kano North Senatorial District.

An annual initiative, Senator Barau’s fertiliser support programme aims to empower farmers, enhance crop yields, and complement the Federal Government’s broader drive towards food self-sufficiency.

Speaking at the event through his Chief of Staff, Professor Muhammad Ibn Abdallah, Senator Barau reiterated his commitment to agricultural development, emphasizing that the fertiliser was provided free of charge.

“As we do every year, we are here again to distribute fertiliser to Kano farmers. No farmer is expected to pay a single Kobo. This initiative is in support of the Federal Government’s efforts to achieve food sufficiency,” he said.

He urged beneficiaries to make optimal use of the fertiliser, stressing the importance of empowering farmers as key drivers of rural development and national food security.

Several farmers expressed appreciation for the gesture, describing Senator Barau as a consistent and compassionate leader.

“Senator Barau is an exceptional leader. Every year, he supports our farming with fertiliser. We are grateful and pray for his continued success,” said Mallam Ibrahim Musa Bagwai, one of the beneficiaries.

The Deputy Senate President also assured farmers of continued collaboration with relevant agencies to promote sustainable agricultural practices in Kano State and beyond.
