SPPG Class of 2024 Set to Graduate: Chimamanda Adichie to deliver keynote address

The School of Politics, Policy and Governance (SPPG) will hold its Class of 2024 Graduation Ceremony on Saturday, October 5, 2024, at the Shehu Musa Yar’adua Centre, Abuja. Celebrated novelist Chimamanda Adichie is slated to give the keynote address at the event, themed “People, Politics, Policies, and the Power of Words.”

The ceremony will feature remarks from key figures, including SPPG founder and former Nigerian minister, Dr. Obiageli Ezekwesili, SPPG CEO Ms. Alero Ayida-Otobo, and Dean Dr. Abiola Akiyode. The event highlights the institution’s mission to develop a new wave of transformative leaders committed to improving governance in Nigeria and Africa.

Speaking to Tribune Online, CEO Alero Ayida-Otobo emphasized the urgency of disrupting Nigeria’s cycle of poor governance by nurturing leaders with integrity and vision. She stressed the need for ethical leadership across Africa to drive political and economic development, stating, “If we sit back hoping those entrenched in poor governance will change, we will wait forever. We must bring people of character, competence, and capacity into Africa’s politics in large numbers.”

The event underscores SPPG’s dedication to reshaping governance by preparing future leaders to prioritize the public good and implement policies that serve the people.
