In a statement by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity Chief Ajuri Ngelale, the President described Ms. Mohammed, as a renowned advocate for the environment, education, and the Sustainable Development Goals, has served Nigeria and the global community in numerous capacities. From 2002 to 2005, she coordinated the Taskforce on Gender and Education for the United Nations Millennium Project and has served on numerous international advisory boards and panels.
As Nigeria’s Minister of Environment from 2015 to 2017, she spearheaded the Ogoniland clean-up initiative, mobilizing government and non-government stakeholders in the oil and gas sector to achieve significant progress.
President Tinubu lauds Ms. Mohammed as a global icon and a beacon of hope for a prosperous, peaceful, and safe future for humanity. He commends her tireless service to the nation, highlighting her as a paragon of Nigerian excellence and an inspiring model for both men and women worldwide.
