Borno State Governor Babagana Umara Zulum has praised the humanitarian and altruistic efforts of the UN Deputy Secretary-General, Amina Mohammed, as she marks her 63rd birthday.
In a statement released on Saturday by his Senior Special Assistant on New Media, Governor Zulum commended Mohammed’s dedication to improving the lives of those affected by the decade-long Boko Haram insurgency in Borno.
“The DSG has demonstrated total commitment towards uplifting the condition of people in Borno who are affected by the over one-decade-long Boko Haram insurgency,” Zulum stated. “She visited Borno personally on many occasions, including some hard-to-reach communities such as Banki.”
Governor Zulum highlighted Mohammed’s advocacy for Nigeria and Borno on the international stage since she assumed her role as Deputy Secretary-General. “She has advocated for the cause of Nigeria and Borno, particularly at the international level since she assumed the office of the Deputy Secretary-General,” he noted.
Expressing his gratitude, Zulum said, “On behalf of the people and Government of Borno State, I congratulate you, Madam Deputy Secretary-General, as you attain 63 years. I wish you many more happy years, and I pray that the Almighty Allah will continue to bless you.”
Governor Zulum also acknowledged Mohammed’s tireless efforts in the recovery and peace-building process in Borno, as the state continues to emerge from the insurgency.
