Tinubu mourns victims of Borno IED blasts, vows crackdown on terrorists

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has expressed deep condolences to the people of Borno State following recent terrorist attacks in Maiduguri, pledging intensified military operations to eliminate criminal elements across the country.

In a State House statement, the President described the attacks as “deeply upsetting,” mourning those who lost their lives and sympathising with the injured, while reaffirming solidarity with residents of the affected communities.

Tinubu characterised the assaults as desperate attempts by terrorists to instil fear, insisting that such actions reflect mounting pressure on insurgent groups from ongoing military operations.

He commended the resilience and bravery of Nigerian troops for successfully repelling coordinated attacks on military positions, noting that security forces remain committed to neutralising threats posed by insurgents and criminal groups.

The President disclosed that he recently approved additional equipment and operational support for security agencies following a high-level meeting with defence and intelligence chiefs, aimed at strengthening ongoing counter-terrorism efforts.

He also directed security chiefs to relocate to Maiduguri to oversee operations, while mandating emergency response agencies to provide adequate medical care and support to victims of the attacks.

Reiterating his administration’s resolve, Tinubu declared that no part of Nigeria would serve as a safe haven for terrorists, assuring that security forces would track, confront, and ultimately defeat all threats to national peace.

“Nigeria will not succumb to fear,” the President affirmed, underscoring the government’s determination to restore stability and safeguard citizens across the country.
