Troops neutralize top Boko Haram, ISWAP leaders in Borno

Troops of Operation HADIN KAI have dealt a significant blow to Boko Haram and Islamic State – West Africa Province (ISWAP) terrorist networks, neutralising scores of fighters in separate operations early Thursday in Mallam Fatori and Buratai, Borno State.

According to military sources, the intense encounters involved coordinated ground assaults and precise targeting of terrorist positions. The operations resulted in the elimination of several fighters and the destruction of weapons and logistical supplies critical to the insurgents’ campaigns.

Notably, three high-profile terrorist commanders—Amir Abu Ali, Amir Ibunu, and Amir Abu Waldume—were killed during the fierce engagements. These individuals had long been on military watchlists due to their roles in orchestrating attacks across the Lake Chad region and northeastern Nigeria.

The operations at Mallam Fatori and Buratai were described as carefully planned and executed, with troops acting on credible intelligence and supported by robust surveillance. Military sources noted that the deaths of the three amirs represent a severe setback to Boko Haram and ISWAP leadership structures.

Further details on the engagements, including casualty figures and broader operational impacts, are expected to be released by military authorities as information becomes available.

These latest successes underscore the ongoing efforts by Nigerian forces to degrade terrorist capabilities and restore security in the troubled region.
