Tunji-Ojo praised NSCDC Commandant General Dr. Ahmed Audi for his dedication to deploying trained personnel to secure vital national infrastructure. He urged the newly trained Mining Marshals to uphold their duties with diligence, reflecting the rigorous training designed to strengthen Nigeria’s security framework.
Minister of Solid Minerals, Dr. Dele Alake, represented by Director of Federal Mines and Steel Engr. Imam Ganiyu, highlighted the successful collaboration between the Ministries of Interior and Solid Minerals. This partnership has driven significant improvements in the mining sector, aiming to generate federal revenue and create job opportunities.
Dr. Audi noted the NSCDC’s “Operation Hayakin logo” as a vital effort to secure the mining sector from economic saboteurs, citing over 300 arrests and the reclamation of more than 200 mining sites. He reiterated the Corps’ commitment to enforcing mining laws and rooting out illegal operations, stating that compliance has significantly increased under the renewed hope agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Audi called for further collaboration, especially in training and provision of equipment, to effectively monitor Nigeria’s extensive illegal mining sites. He urged personnel to remain loyal and vigilant, noting that internal mechanisms are in place to uphold accountability within the Corps.
