UNIBEN  appoints Prof. Omoregie as 11th Vice Chancellor

The University of Benin (UNIBEN) has announced Prof. Edoba Bright Omoregie, SAN, as its 11th substantive Vice Chancellor. A distinguished academic and Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), Prof. Omoregie is a seasoned expert in Comparative Constitutional Law and Legislative Governance.

Called to the Nigerian Bar in 1992, Prof. Omoregie obtained his legal education at UNIBEN and the Nigerian Law School in Lagos. He has been a dedicated faculty member at UNIBEN’s Faculty of Law since 1998, earning a PhD with a focus on Federalism and Governance.

For over a decade, he has taught Legislative Drafting, Legislative Studies, and Electoral Frameworks at the National Institute for Legislative and Democratic Studies (NILDS), under the UNIBEN/NILDS Postgraduate Programmes.

In addition to his teaching, Prof. Omoregie has served as Acting Director of Legislative Support Services at NILDS since 2019. His contributions to legal scholarship extend internationally, with publications in numerous academic forums. An active member of the International Bar Association and other global legislative organizations, Prof. Omoregie is well-respected within the international legal community.

Prof. Omoregie is known for his extensive academic and legislative expertise, and he brings a wealth of experience to his new role at UNIBEN. He is widely traveled, married, and a proud father.
