Prof. Celeste Saulo, in her inaugural session as WMO Secretary-General, welcomed members to the ongoing annual meeting of the World Meteorological Organization (WMO). The session is chaired by WMO President Dr. Abdulla Al Mandous.
Among the attendees is Prof. Charles Anosike, the Director-General and CEO of the Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet), who also serves as Nigeria’s Permanent Representative to the WMO, along with other members of the WMO Executive Council.
Addressing the council, Prof. Saulo emphasized the critical need for robust National Meteorological and Hydrological Services in light of climate change impacts and extreme weather events. “Together, we can save lives and build resilience in a changing climate,” she stated.
