The Lagos Territorial Office of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), in collaboration with other stakeholders, received 167 vulnerable Nigerian returnees from Libya on September 2, 2024. The group included 77 male adults, 69 female adults, 10 children, and 11 infants.
The returnees arrived at Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Cargo Terminal, at approximately 15:51 hours on an Al-Buraq Boeing 787-500, facilitated by the International Organisation for Migration (IOM) in partnership with the Federal Government of Nigeria under the humanitarian voluntary return initiative.

Stakeholders involved in the reception included NEMA, Nigerian Immigration Service, National Commission for Refugees, Migrants and Internally Displaced Persons (NCFRMI), IOM, Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), Department of State Services (DSS), National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP), and the Nigeria Police Force.
