The Nigerian Air Force has intensified intelligence-led air operations against террорист and bandit groups, with the Chief of the Air Staff, Sunday Kelvin Aneke, directing commanders to maintain maximum vigilance and operational discipline.
Air Marshal Aneke gave the directive during a strategic visit to Bauchi on April 29, where he addressed personnel at the Headquarters Special Operations Command (HQ SOC) and other units. He underscored the importance of aligning strategic intent with operational execution to sustain pressure on security threats.
Describing the Command as central to national security, he said the Air Force would continue to deliver decisive airpower in support of ongoing operations. He stressed that missions must be intelligence-driven, precise and outcome-focused to ensure measurable results in neutralising threats.
The Air Chief commended personnel for their resilience, noting that their efforts have contributed to recent operational gains, improved force protection and enhanced responsiveness to emerging challenges.
During the visit, he inspected operational platforms, facilities and critical infrastructure to assess readiness and identify gaps. The evaluation, he said, was aimed at strengthening efficiency, improving response capability and ensuring all assets remain serviceable for current and future missions.
In a related engagement, the Air Chief paid a courtesy visit to the Emir of Bauchi, Rilwanu Sulaiman Adamu, where he highlighted the importance of community support in achieving sustainable security outcomes. The Emir commended the Air Force for its role in protecting lives and property, noting that its operations have strengthened public confidence.
Aneke also disclosed ongoing efforts to enhance operational capacity through the acquisition of modern platforms and advanced intelligence systems, alongside expanded training programmes for personnel.
He reiterated that operational readiness remains non-negotiable, warning commanders against complacency and urging them to demonstrate leadership, discipline and accountability at all times.
The Air Officer Commanding Special Operations Command, Ahmed Idris, said the Command remains aligned with the Chief’s directives and is sustaining a high operational tempo.
The Air Chief further assured personnel of improved welfare, including upgraded accommodation and infrastructure across NAF locations, as part of efforts to boost morale and sustain mission effectiveness.
