Troops of Operation EASTERN SANITY II have recorded another breakthrough against criminal elements in the South East following a successful raid operation in Oji River Local Government Area of Enugu State.

The operation, carried out in the early hours of Friday, was based on credible intelligence indicating that a house in Achi Town was being used as a hideout for cultists and other criminal elements.

Military sources disclosed that troops deployed in Oji River, working in collaboration with Keystone personnel from the local government area, stormed the suspected hideout at about 4:30 a.m. on May 23, 2026.

During the raid, security operatives recovered eight motorcycles and two buckets of locally made gunpowder suspected to be intended for criminal activities.

The troops also arrested three suspects identified as Mr. Ozor Benjamin, 85, from Isikwe Achi, Mrs. Miracle Eze, 26, and Mrs. Ogechukwu Okorie, 29, both from Umuoka Achi in Oji River LGA.

According to the military, the suspects and recovered exhibits have been handed over to Keystone personnel in Oji River for further investigation and necessary action.

The latest operation, according to security authorities, underscores the commitment of Operation EASTERN SANITY II and collaborating security agencies to sustaining offensive operations against criminal groups threatening peace and security in the South East.

The troops reaffirmed their resolve to deny criminal elements freedom of operation in the region while urging members of the public to continue providing timely and credible information to security agencies.
