Amnesty International has strongly condemned the early-morning attack on Bargaja village in Isa Local Government Area of Sokoto State on Saturday, 8 November 2025. Gunmen killed at least five residents, abducted dozens of women and girls, and critically injured over 40 people with gunshot wounds. The attackers also looted local shops, compounding the community’s suffering.

The human rights organization described the incident as a stark illustration of the authorities’ failure to protect lives, noting that such attacks strip citizens of their right to life and leave survivors deprived of their livelihoods.
Amnesty International urged the Nigerian government to take immediate, concrete actions to safeguard human rights and prevent further violence, emphasizing that words alone are insufficient if the state is to uphold its commitment to ending killings, abductions, and other human rights violations across the country.
