CDS urges troops to protect human rights during Kaduna, Plateau visits

The Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Christopher Gwabin Musa, has called for the protection of citizens’ human rights during his operational visit to front-line units under Operation Safe Haven in Kaduna and Plateau states.

In a statement, Director Defence Information Brigadier General Tukur Gusau said addressing troops of the 2 National Mission Brigade in Samaru Kataf, Kaduna State, and Sector 8 in Mangu, Plateau State, General Musa emphasized the importance of respecting human rights in military operations. He reminded personnel that their primary mandate is to safeguard lives and properties while maintaining the dignity of citizens.

“Take the fight to criminal hideouts and flush them out completely,” the CDS directed, urging renewed vigor in combating insurgency in 2025. He warned troops against any illegal practices that could tarnish the reputation of the Armed Forces of Nigeria (AFN) and encouraged teamwork for enhanced operational success.

During his visit to Southern Kaduna, General Musa paid homage to the Chief of Kagoro, His Royal Highness Agwam Ufuwai Bonet, and expressed gratitude for his support of troops stationed in the region.

The CDS was accompanied to the 2 National Mission Brigade by Senator Sunday Marshall Katung, representing Kaduna South Senatorial District. Senator Katung commended the CDS for his proactive approach to addressing insecurity in the area.
