The Lagos State Special Offences Court sitting in Ikeja, presided over by Justice Rahman Oshodi, on Wednesday, October 8, 2025, adjourned the trial of former Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Governor, Godwin Emefiele, to October 9, 2025, for ruling on the admissibility of key documents tendered by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
Emefiele is standing trial on a 19-count charge bordering on alleged gratification and corrupt demands filed against him by the EFCC.
His co-defendant, Henry Omoile, is facing a separate three-count charge related to the unlawful acceptance of gifts by an agent.
The adjournment followed arguments by prosecution and defence counsel over whether certain documents presented by the EFCC should be admitted as evidence in the ongoing trial.
Justice Oshodi subsequently reserved ruling on the matter until Thursday, October 9, when the court is expected to decide on the admissibility of the documents before continuing with the trial.
