Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of former Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Dr. Solomon Ehigiator Arase, describing him as a reformer, patriot, and dedicated officer who left an indelible mark on Nigeria’s security architecture.
In a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Fred Itua, Governor Okpebholo said the late Arase was an illustrious son of Edo State who served the nation with integrity, professionalism, and distinction.
“We have lost a great mind, a dedicated public servant, and an exceptional leader,” the Governor said, noting that Arase’s tenure as the 18th Inspector-General of Police was defined by far-reaching reforms, a commitment to professionalism, and the promotion of community policing.
Okpebholo added that Arase’s contributions would continue to inspire young police officers and leaders across the country. “His legacy of service will be remembered for generations. He was a beacon of hope and a source of inspiration,” he stated.
The Governor extended condolences to the Arase family and the Nigeria Police Force, praying for the peaceful repose of the deceased and for God to grant his loved ones the strength to bear the loss.
