EFCC apprehends 39 alleged internet fraudsters in Benin City

The Benin Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) made a significant breakthrough on Wednesday, May 8, 2024, with the arrest of 39 individuals suspected of engaging in internet fraud. The arrests, carried out at various locations within Benin City, were prompted by actionable intelligence indicating their alleged involvement in computer-related fraudulent activities.

Among the seized items were eight high-end vehicles, including two Mercedes-Benz GLK 350s, two Mercedes-Benz C300s, two Lexus RX350s, a Toyota Camry, and a Lexus ES350. Additionally, laptops and mobile phones were confiscated as potential evidence.

Upon completion of investigations, the suspects will be prosecuted in accordance with the law. The EFCC remains committed to combating cybercrime and ensuring that perpetrators face justice for their actions.
