The Muslim Ummah of South West Nigeria (MUSWEN) is set to host its inaugural public health lecture on Sunday, May 19, 2024, at the Professor Musa Abdul Civic Centre, located within the University of Ibadan Central Mosque.
In a statement issued by Dr. AGO Labinjo, Chairman of the MUSWEN Health Committee, the lecture marks the beginning of an annual series aimed at raising awareness about prevalent health issues and serving as a platform for advocacy and publicity of MUSWEN and its initiatives.
Themed “National Insecurity and its Psychosocial Effects on Citizens: The Islam and Health Perspectives,” the event will be chaired by MUSWEN President, Alhaji Rasaki Oladejo.
The keynote address will be delivered by Professor Abdulrazaq Abdulmajeed Alaro, focusing on the Islamic viewpoint, while Dr. Jibril Abdulmalik, Consultant Psychiatrist at the University College Hospital (UCH), will provide insights from a medical perspective.
Distinguished guests from the Muslim community across the six states of the southwest region are expected to grace the occasion.
Furthermore, the event will feature free medical check-ups for members of the public, commencing at 8:00 am at the same venue.
