EFCC warns public against fake land vendors in Abuja

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has issued a public warning following the arrest of a suspected fake land dealer, Nwobo Williams Chibuike, who allegedly defrauded multiple individuals through bogus land sales across the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

Chibuike, who operates under the guise of being the Managing Director of C&C Reality & Construction Limited, Dream-Krest Homes and Properties Limited, and Dan Faith Shelters Limited, was apprehended by EFCC operatives in Abuja. He is accused of marketing non-existent plots of land in locations including Kurudu, Sabon Lugbe East Extension, Kpeyegyi, and Jikwoyi Village Extension.

Investigations revealed that unsuspecting victims were deceived into paying large sums of money ranging from ₦3.5 million to ₦60 million for land in areas such as Karsana, Pyakasa, Katampe Extension, Guzape 2, Kuje, and other parts of the FCT.

However, checks by the EFCC with the Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA) confirmed that the land parcels marketed by Chibuike and his associates do not exist.

The EFCC has assured that the suspect will be prosecuted upon the conclusion of investigations. In the meantime, the Commission is urging the public to exercise caution and avoid transacting with unverified or itinerant land vendors within the FCT.

“Members of the public are strongly advised to verify all land offers through appropriate government channels before making any payments,” the EFCC stated.
