Alhaji Muhammad Iliyasu-Bashar, the esteemed Emir of Gwandu, expressed admiration for the new administration in Kebbi led by Dr. Nasir Idris, commending its strong start. During a courtesy visit to the Governor at the Government House in Birnin Kebbi, the Emir, who also serves as the Chairman of the Kebbi State Council of Chiefs, highlighted the positive actions taken by the Governor within just a few months in office.
The Emir noted that the Governor had provided free fertilizers to farmers to bolster agricultural activities across the state, a move that significantly supports the agricultural sector. Additionally, the Governor had recently awarded a contract for the rehabilitation, expansion, and construction of roads in the state capital, which would enhance infrastructure and transportation.
The visit was primarily to celebrate the Governor’s victory in the polls and to demonstrate loyalty and support to the new administration in Kebbi state.
In response, Governor Nasir Idris expressed gratitude for the Emir’s visit and assured him that the projects executed were only the beginning of many more positive developments to come. He emphasized the importance of both physical and human development in governance and promised that the state capital would soon undergo significant infrastructural transformation.
The Governor revealed that a memorandum of understanding (MoU) would soon be signed for the completion of the state secretariat project, which aims to accommodate all workers efficiently. He assured the Emir that his administration was committed to addressing security challenges, particularly in the southern part of Kebbi State. The Governor highlighted that the government had acquired sophisticated assets from the Inspector General of Police to assist security agencies in their continuous efforts to combat crime across the state.
Governor Nasir Idris reiterated his administration’s dedication to supporting security agencies and enabling them to carry out their duties diligently and effectively. The commitment to maintaining security would be unwavering, ensuring the safety and well-being of the people of Kebbi State.
