In an endeavor to enhance relationships and foster trust between the ECOWAS Stabilization Support Mission in Guinea Bissau (ESSMGB) and the host country, a route march was organized within Bissau metropolitan area by the Force Headquarters ESSMGB.
Led by the dedicated Force Commander, Brigadier General AM Grema, this monthly exercise witnessed active participation from FHQ Staff Officers, troops from the four contingents, and the National Defence and Security Forces of the Republic of Guinea Bissau (NDSFGB).
The primary objectives of this exercise were twofold. Firstly, it aimed to maintain the energy and spirit of the troops, boosting their confidence and motivation to effectively carry out the mission’s mandates. These mandates primarily involve supporting the NDSFGB in stabilizing the Republic of Guinea Bissau, safeguarding civilians, and enhancing security capacity in line with international humanitarian law.
By engaging in this joint physical activity and demonstrating solidarity with the host country’s security forces, ESSMGB sought to build a strong foundation for cooperation and mutual understanding. Such initiatives are crucial in fostering lasting partnerships and ensuring the success of the mission’s objectives.
