The Federal Government has underscored the significant economic and industrial benefits of the Ajaokuta-Kaduna-Kano (AKK) Gas Pipeline Project. This announcement came during the visit of three cabinet ministers to the project site in Kaduna on Friday, where they inspected the river Kaduna crossing milestone.
Group CEO of NNPC Ltd., Mele Kyari, assured that the project will be completed by the end of the first quarter of 2025. The visiting ministers included Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Wale Edun; Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris Malagi; and Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Gas), Ekperikpe Ekpo.
Finance Minister Edun described the AKK Gas Pipeline as crucial for economic growth and industrialisation, aligning with President Tinubu’s strategy for national prosperity. Malagi highlighted the project as evidence of the Federal Government’s commitment to the “Decade of Gas” initiative. Ekpo emphasized the project’s role in harnessing Nigeria’s gas resources to enhance power generation, revive industries, and create jobs.
Kyari expressed confidence in meeting the project timeline, noting substantial progress. He also highlighted NNPC’s financial commitment to the project. Kaduna State Governor Mallam Uba Sani, represented by Deputy Governor Dr. Hadiza Sabuwa Balarabe, expressed anticipation for the economic revival the pipeline promises for the state.
The AKK Gas Pipeline, a 614 km system from Ajaokuta to Kano, aims to transport natural gas to key regions, fostering industrial and economic development.
