Moro Ojomo urges Nigerian athletes abroad to invest in sports academies

Nigerian-born American football star and 2025 Super Bowl champion Moro Ojomo has called on Nigerian athletes overseas to invest in developing sports academies in Nigeria to nurture local talent.

Ojomo made this appeal during his official visit to the Chairman/CEO of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM), Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, in Abuja on Saturday.

“As a champion, I am committed to giving back to my community and empowering the next generation of leaders,” he said. “Establishing sports academies will provide young Nigerians with the resources and opportunities to develop their skills and excel on the global stage.”

Ojomo also emphasized his plans to promote American football and rugby in Nigeria, stating that efforts are underway to qualify the country for Olympic participation in rugby.

“As Nigerians, we have a responsibility to uplift one another and create a better future. By investing in our youth, we can position Nigeria as a hub of talent and excellence,” he added.

Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa commended Ojomo for his achievements and commitment to Nigeria’s development. She encouraged him to remain actively involved in inspiring young Nigerians and invited him to the upcoming Diaspora Day event to share his experiences.

“Home will always be home, no matter how much you excel abroad,” she said, urging Nigerian athletes in the diaspora to contribute to national growth.

Ojomo concluded with a powerful message: “The grass is greener where you water it. Let’s invest in our youth, empower our communities, and build a brighter future for Nigeria.”
