Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) Limited has dismissed reports claiming it is selling scrap materials, equipment, or components from its refineries, describing such information as false and misleading.
In a statement signed by Chief Corporate Communications Officer, Andy Odeh said the company clarified that it has not initiated or approved any process—whether bids, tenders, or expressions of interest—for the disposal of refinery scrap, equipment, or inventory items.
NNPC Limited also warned that some individuals are falsely posing as its representatives or agents, attempting to defraud members of the public by offering access to purported “scrap metals” or refinery equipment. The company stressed that such persons are not authorised and are acting with intent to deceive.
It urged the public, corporate organisations, and industry stakeholders to disregard any such claims and exercise caution when approached with similar offers.
The company reiterated that any legitimate disposal of assets would follow transparent procedures and be publicly communicated through its official channels in line with regulatory requirements.
NNPC Limited further advised that anyone encountering such fraudulent claims should report them to relevant law enforcement authorities.
The statement reaffirmed the company’s commitment to transparency, accountability, and the responsible management of national energy assets.
