A combined team of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Nigerian Army, and Nigeria Police has foiled repeated attacks on Nteng village in Deomak District, Qua’an Pan Local Government Area of Plateau State.
Commander of the NSCDC Commandant General’s Special Intelligence Squad, Commandant Apollos Dandaura, who led the operation, condemned the recent wave of assaults on communities in the area. He noted that the attackers, suspected bandits, have taken advantage of the difficult terrain—mountainous, swampy, and with poor road access—to unleash violence on farmers and residents.

“These attacks have claimed lives, destroyed farmlands, razed a primary healthcare centre, and displaced over 4,000 farmers, many of whom are now taking refuge in a local primary school,” Dandaura said.
He attributed the success of the rescue operation to coordinated efforts between the NSCDC and the Nigerian Army, which mounted a joint guard post in Nteng village to restore confidence and enable displaced residents to return to their homes.
Dandaura assured that the Commandant General of the NSCDC, Prof. Ahmed Abubakar Audi, has directed the deployment of the NSCDC Agro Rangers to protect farmers, prevent further destruction of farmlands and livestock, and promote peaceful coexistence between herders and farmers.
Communities most affected by the attacks include Doop, Keolakan, Jepmorop, and Gorom in Nteng village. Security forces have conducted on-the-spot assessments to strengthen future responses and avert renewed hostilities.
