- Naval Outpost KOLUAMA II destroys suspected criminal hideout
In a decisive move against illegal activities, Operation DELTA SANITY, spearheaded by the Nigerian Navy, achieved a significant breakthrough by discovering and deactivating two illegal refining sites laden with stolen crude oil. This operation unfolded in the vicinity of Gbaram General Area, Bayelsa State, on Monday, March 18, 2024.
The coordinated efforts of naval personnel at Forward Operating Base SOROH led to the discovery and subsequent dismantling of these illicit operations. The sites were found to contain a total of 53,900 liters of stolen crude oil along with 650 liters of illegally refined Automotive Gas Oil (AGO).
This successful operation underscores the commitment of the Nigerian Navy to curbing illegal activities within the maritime domain, particularly those related to oil theft and unauthorized refining. Such activities not only pose a significant threat to the nation’s economy but also endanger the environment and the lives of those involved.
In a parallel operation, Naval Outpost KOLUAMA II, operating under Operation DELTA SANITY, uncovered and destroyed a suspected hideout believed to be utilized by kidnappers and sea robbers. This hideout was located in the Ekpaigbene creek and Ginegbene areas of Southern Ijaw, Bayelsa State, on the same day, March 18, 2024.

The swift and precise action taken by naval forces resulted in the neutralization of this potential threat. By eliminating such hideouts, Operation DELTA SANITY aims to disrupt criminal networks operating in the region, ensuring the safety and security of coastal communities.
These recent developments mark significant milestones in the ongoing efforts to maintain law and order in the Niger Delta region. Operation DELTA SANITY continues to demonstrate the Nigerian Navy’s unwavering commitment to safeguarding the nation’s territorial waters and combating various forms of maritime crime.
