Police arrest notorious Beninese fugitive in Ogun, handover to authorities

The Nigeria Police Force National Central Bureau (NCB) of Interpol has arrested and handed over a notorious Beninese fugitive, Sunday Kotin, to authorities in Benin Republic.

Force Public Relations Officer, Force Headquarters, Abuja CSP Benjamin Hundeyin said Kotin, wanted for inter-border armed banditry, arms smuggling, cattle rustling, and drug trafficking, had fled into Nigeria to evade justice while seven members of his syndicate are already standing trial in Benin.

Acting on credible intelligence, operatives of the NPF NCB launched a discreet operation that led to his arrest in Idi Iroko Town, Ipokia Local Government Area of Ogun State. Following interrogation, he was officially handed over to Interpol officials from Cotonou.

The Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, commended the officers for their professionalism and reaffirmed the Force’s commitment to international security cooperation. He stressed that Nigeria will not serve as a safe haven for fugitives or criminal networks.

Egbetokun further assured Nigerians and the international community of the Police Force’s unwavering collaboration with global law enforcement bodies in ensuring peace, security, and justice.
