Police confirm safety following false bomb Alarm at Ahmadu Bello way Jos

The Plateau State Police Command responded to a report of a possible explosive device near the Old JUTH fence along Ahmadu Bello Way, Jos, causing initial alarm among residents.

In a statement Police Public Relations Officer, Plateau State Command, Jos DSP Alfred Alabo said the report, received at 8:20 a.m., described a shallow hole suspected to contain an Improvised Explosive Device (IED).

He said upon receiving the alert, the Plateau State Commissioner of Police, CP Emmanuel Olugbemiga Adesina, psc, promptly directed the Area Commander, Metro, and the Command’s Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Unit, also known as the Anti-Bomb Squad, to deploy a team of bomb technicians to the location. Collaborating with the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of “C” Division, the EOD Unit secured the area and conducted a thorough investigation.

Following a detailed assessment by the EOD team, the site was declared free of any explosive threats. Commissioner Adesina, accompanied by members of his management team, personally visited the scene for an on-the-spot review, reaffirming the area’s safety.

CP Adesina commended Plateau State residents for their vigilance and cooperation throughout the response operation, emphasizing that regular activities can now resume without concern.
