TCN linesmen pinpoint fault on Ugwuaji–Apir line, repairs begin today

Linesmen from the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) have identified a fault on the Ugwuaji–Apir 330kV Double Circuit transmission line, in the Igumale area of Benue State.

In a statement the General Manager, Public Affairs, Ndidi Mbah said the fault, discovered at around 5 p.m. today, involves a snapped transmission line spanning approximately one section in the swampy forests of Igumale.

He said following the discovery, TCN is mobilizing equipment and materials to the site. Due to the challenging terrain, a bulldozer and Hiab vehicle will be transported from TCN’s Enugu Regional Office to facilitate the repair process and retension the line.

The line fault, which occurred on Monday, October 21, 2024, resulted in widespread power outages across the North East, North West, and parts of the North Central regions. Previous attempts to locate the fault were unsuccessful until today.

TCN reassures affected customers that repair work will begin tomorrow morning. The company appreciates the patience of both the government and electricity users during this period.
