The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has intensified air operations against terrorist elements in Niger State, sustaining pressure on armed groups and disrupting their movements across parts of Mariga Local Government Area.
The latest operations, conducted around Maburya, Sangeko, Kampani Bobi and adjoining areas, involved sustained armed reconnaissance and surveillance missions carried out in coordination with ground forces.
During the missions, NAF aircraft detected groups of terrorists moving on motorcycles and alongside rustled cattle. On sighting the aircraft, the terrorists were observed fleeing and seeking cover before they were engaged from the air, disrupting their activities and freedom of movement.
The operations underscore the growing impact of intelligence-driven airpower, persistent aerial surveillance and effective air-ground coordination in the ongoing campaign against terrorism in the Joint Task Force North West Area of Operations.
By maintaining continuous surveillance, NAF crews are able to detect suspicious movements, identify potential threats and swiftly deploy airpower against terrorist elements. The sustained aerial presence is increasingly denying criminal groups the freedom to move, assemble and operate without facing military intervention.
