Former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar has congratulated Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, on his re-election, saying the result reflects the choice of the people expressed through the ballot.
Atiku, who served as Vice-President from 1999 to 2007, commended the people of Osun State for their enthusiasm and peaceful participation in the governorship election.
“I congratulate Governor Ademola Adeleke on his re-election as Governor of Osun State. His victory demonstrates the choice of the people of Osun as expressed at the ballot box,” Atiku said.
He also wished Adeleke continued success in his service to the people of the state.
The Returning Officer, Joshua Olalekan Ogunwole, declared Adeleke the winner after the governor secured 511,067 votes.
His closest challenger, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, polled 444,815 votes, while the African Democratic Congress (ADC) candidate, Najeem Salaan, recorded 17,180 votes.
The result gave Adeleke a clear lead over his two major challengers and secured his return for another term as governor of Osun State.
