President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Sunday departed Abuja for Europe to commence a three-week vacation as part of his annual leave.
The President’s first destination is London, United Kingdom, where he is expected to spend part of the leave period before continuing with other engagements during what has been described as a working vacation.
A statement issued by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, said the trip marks the commencement of the President’s annual leave.
According to the statement, President Tinubu is expected to return to Nigeria at the end of the three-week break to resume his official duties and other national engagements.
The President is also expected to return in time to participate in activities leading to the January 2027 election campaign, which is anticipated to be a major focus of political activities across the country.
While the trip provides an opportunity for rest, the President’s vacation is expected to include official engagements, making it a working leave rather than a complete break from government activities.
President Tinubu’s departure from Abuja comes as his administration continues to pursue key policies and programmes aimed at strengthening the economy, improving national security and advancing other priority areas of governance.
Further details of the President’s engagements during the vacation are expected to be communicated as necessary, while government activities and official functions continue through the relevant institutions and officials.
The President is expected to return to the country after the three-week annual leave to resume full official engagements and prepare for the demanding political activities expected ahead of the January 2027 election.
