President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will depart Abuja on Saturday, May 2, for official visits to France, Kenya, and Rwanda, as part of efforts to deepen diplomatic and economic engagement.
According to a State House statement issued by presidential spokesman Bayo Onanuga, the President’s itinerary will begin in France before proceeding to Nairobi, where he will participate in the Africa-France Summit scheduled for May 11–12.
The summit, co-chaired by Emmanuel Macron and William Ruto, will focus on energy transition, green industrialisation, digital transformation, reforms to global financing systems, and climate action. Under the theme “Africa Forward: Africa-France Partnerships for Innovation and Growth,” the forum is expected to convene African leaders and their French counterparts to address key issues including economic transformation, infrastructure development, youth empowerment, and peace-building.
Following the Kenya engagement, President Tinubu will travel to Kigali to attend the Africa CEO Forum from May 14 to 15. The forum, themed “Scale or Fail,” is regarded as one of Africa’s largest gatherings of private sector leaders, investors, and policymakers, with discussions centred on accelerating growth through regional integration and cross-border investment.
Organised in partnership with the International Finance Corporation, the event will host over 2,000 executives and government officials to deliberate on strategies for building resilient and competitive industries across the continent.
At both summits, Tinubu is expected to outline his administration’s economic reform agenda aimed at positioning Nigeria as a prime destination for investment. He will also hold bilateral meetings with global and African business leaders.
The President will be accompanied by senior government officials, including ministers and aides, and is expected to return to Nigeria at the conclusion of the Rwanda engagement.
