APC Chairman, Uzodimma mobilise diaspora support for Tinubu ahead of 2027 polls

The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, and the Governor of Imo State, Chief Hope Uzodimma, have called on Nigerians in the diaspora to strengthen internal cohesion and rally support for President Bola Tinubu’s administration ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The appeal was made at a Strategic Global Diaspora Conference organised by the Directorate of Diaspora and Global Affairs of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors, which convened more than 600 participants across Africa, Europe, North America, Canada and Australia.

Yilwatda, speaking at the virtual event, urged greater unity among APC stakeholders abroad, stressing that a coordinated diaspora network was essential for projecting Nigeria’s global image and communicating government reforms. He advocated the creation of structured media teams to counter misinformation and promote what he described as ongoing national progress.

He also emphasised the need for diaspora engagement in voter education, investment mobilisation and broader support for the Tinubu administration.

Governor Uzodimma, who also serves as Director-General of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors, described Nigerians abroad as a strategic political and developmental asset, urging sustained mobilisation efforts to secure continuity for the APC in 2027.

Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State, Deputy Director-General of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors, similarly described the diaspora community as a key electoral and developmental constituency capable of influencing outcomes across multiple spheres.

The Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission, Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, commended the initiative and pledged stronger institutional engagement with Nigerians abroad through improved communication and policy dissemination.

Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, Dr. Bernard Doro, called for deeper integration between diaspora expertise and domestic governance, urging the establishment of youth-driven media platforms to highlight government programmes and counter misinformation.

Chief of Staff to the Lagos State Governor, Chief Tayo Ayinde, highlighted what he described as key achievements of the Tinubu administration, including improved investor confidence, infrastructure development, and the rollout of the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND).

Diaspora representatives, including APC Diaspora Coordinating Chairman Mr. Tunde Doherty and Renewed Hope Ambassadors Operational Director Mr. Tayo Shodeinde, described the conference as a global convergence of party stakeholders aimed at strengthening coordination and engagement.

Participants at the conference pledged continued support for the Renewed Hope Agenda and called for more robust communication channels between government officials and Nigerians abroad.

Organisers said the virtual conference would become a recurring platform to deepen diaspora unity and consolidate political and developmental support for the administration ahead of future elections.
