Amnesty International has strongly condemned a deadly attack by Boko Haram on Guyaku community in Gombi Local Government Area of Adamawa State, where at least 29 people were killed.
The attack, which occurred on Sunday, 26 April 2026, reportedly left several residents missing, as villagers continued to search for relatives who fled during the violence.

According to survivors and witnesses, the assailants carried out indiscriminate shootings at close range, while also setting fire to churches, classrooms and motorcycles. Eyewitness accounts described scenes of devastation, with bodies found scattered across the community.
Reports further indicated that elderly residents who were unable to escape were killed inside their homes.

Amnesty International also raised concerns over the continued pattern of violence by the group, including the abduction of women and girls, as well as widespread looting of property.
The organisation noted that the persistence of such attacks underscores the need for strengthened security measures to protect civilians, and called for accountability, justice and adequate reparations for victims and affected families.
