In a significant move to bolster national security, the Nigerian Army has reaffirmed its commitment to enhancing collaboration with the National Counter Terrorism Centre (NCTC).
According to Director, Army Public Relations Major General Onyema Nwachukwu, the renewed partnership aims to strengthen counter-terrorism efforts and protect critical national assets.
This was highlighted during a meeting between the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja, and the Coordinator of the NCTC, Major General Adamu Laka, on Friday, August 16, 2024, at the Army Headquarters.

General Lagbaja emphasized the necessity of this partnership in addressing the evolving threat of terrorism and improving the operational readiness of the Nigerian Army. “We must continually seek ways to enhance our strategies to effectively counter terrorism and safeguard our nation’s critical assets,” he stated.
Major General Laka briefed the COAS on recent developments within the NCTC and expressed gratitude for the ongoing collaboration. He stressed the importance of an integrated approach to counter-terrorism, noting, “Our combined efforts will strengthen our capabilities and ensure we are prepared to face any emerging threats.”
The visit concluded with the exchange of souvenirs and a commemorative group photograph, symbolizing the strengthened partnership between the two institutions.
